Georg Kargl Fine Arts approaches the mutual interrelation of nature and culture with two online presentations at ARCO E-XHIBITIONS, a solo 3D presentation of Jitka Hanzlová at ARCOmadrid along with the 2-D presentation “Unfolded Matter - Nature as Culture, Culture as Nature” at ARCOlisboa with selected artworks by artists who share a critical approach to nature: Olivia Coeln, Mark Dion, Marcel van Eeden, Peter Fend, Sanna Kannisto and Agnieszka Polska.
Czech artist Jitka Hanzlová (born in 1958) explores in her various series of photographs the human, the nature and the urban as passages, moments of wholeness existing in relationships that connect us to ourselves, to each other, to nature and to our surroundings.
Her most recent series "WATER" (2013-2019) belongs to the world of critical intimacy, which emphasizes the social, cultural and political sense, expanding it towards both the abstract territories of representation and the topical concern regarding the human condition. Water in its various appearances, different states of aggregation and fields of meaning is the subject in the two chapters, "Human Dark" and "Human Light". Her photography, which is never subjected to editing after being taken, captivates both in its objectivity and its sensitivity.
“Water might be considered Hanzlová´s most transgressive work to date, self-referential and personal, where the artist manifests herself as a poetess of images and a marine lover.“
