Every month, Dvir Gallery will be presenting a solo show by one of its artist. This month, a selection of works by Dor Guez.
Dor Guez produces photography and video installations that explore the relationship between art, narrative, and memory, interrogating personal and official accounts of the past. His practice raises questions about contemporary art’s role in narrating unwritten histories and re-contextualizing visual and written documents. Guez was born into a Palestinian and Tunisian- Jewish family in Jerusalem, and now lives and works in Jaffa.
Guez's works are part of numerous international public collections, including Tate Modern (UK), Rose Art Museum (Boston), FRAC collection Marseille (France), Israel Museum (Israel), Schocken collection Tel Aviv, (Israel), BNL collection (Italy), Petach Tikva Museum of Art (Israel), Brandeis University (USA), Recanati collection, New York (USA), Beit Hatfutsot (Israel), amongst others.
