Claudio Goulart (1954-2005) was a conceptual artist, born in Porto Alegre-Brazil, self-exiled in Amsterdam-Holland since 1976, a place where he will establish a continuous dialogue between the two continents, addressing issues so important to society and contemporary art as the North-South dichotomy, stereotypes from post-colonialism and the power of language and the mass media.
From his own interdisciplinary, he investigated across practices such as Performance, Video Art, Photography and in an extended way, the Aesthetics of the Archive and Mail Art, valuing the relational capacity of art and questioning History as a subjective construct.
From the 1990s, influenced by the HIV / AIDS crisis, his production was reinforced in the poetics of the body from a political and identity conception.
