The Galería Elba Benítez opened the exhibition of work by Hreinn Fridfinnsson entitled "One Thing and Another, and Then Some More", on February 27, 2021.
An historically important and highly respected figure in contemporary art circles (including among younger generations of artists), Hreinn Fridfinnsson (1943, Iceland; lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands) has put together an eclectic and distinctive body of work that moves easily among various media, such as photography, sculpture, texts, installation and, more recently, video. Over the course of more than five decades Fridfinnsson has forged a delicate and highly personal style that is conceptual in spirit and lyrical in tone, unassuming in material yet powerful in its effects, and above all attuned to the hidden poetry and mysterious epiphanies latent within our experience of the world.
The exhibition — the artist’s third at the Galería Elba Benítez — consists of a careful selection of works spanning the period of 1985 to the present, including works from earlier periods that have rarely been exhibited, as well as new works created especially for the exhibition.
