The first exhibition that UMA LULIK__ presents in E-XHIBITIONS, is a short version of "A skeleton walks into a bar ..." that Paulo Lisboa presents currently at the FLR-Fundação Leal Rios, until April 24th. In this summed up version, UMA LULIK__ focused on the artist's drawing works and presents other works not contemplated in Lisbon.
"Some characteristics are consistently persistent in Paulo Lisboa's work since the mid-2000's.
On the one hand, the use of light as an impalpable but real matter, extractable from different media; on the other hand, a type of procedural sophistication that plays on the possibility of removing the maximum effect from the minimum resources (the helpless drawing of graphite on aluminum; the real light created by anachronistic processes); finally, the convergence of these factors in a theatricality to which everything seems to count, namely the lighting. In "A skeleton walks into a bar ...", this phenomenological predisposition reaches a kind of apotheosis that the first symptom is a certain initial perceptual confusion by the observer (the pictures we find look very grainy). Always from the circle that reinforces the suggestion of immanence here, the remaining drawings suggest reliefs and latencies as if they left the wall or floated in the air like ghostly entities."
